| So Im back. I dont know to say if it was long or was really fast. But anyway... Since 1999 when i saw my first drum corps show at the Mililani Band Room with Mr. Murphy during finals, I've always wanted to do something like that. Then in 2000 when i saw my first LIVE show...i knew i WANTED to do THAT. Three years after that when i saw SCV in the lot at finals week i knew SCV was the corps to be in.
But it didn't start off easy. It was safe to say that some points in the season I wanted to go home. But it's really true what they say...in SCV you learn alot about yourself when you work like dogs and sweat like pigs. _________
So at our first day of the season we had our camp at Gilroy. It was the end of may and it was freezing, especally at night. I remember Fats introducing us to a game called the iron man. Also running a mile still seemed like a struggle. We also had our first ensemble rehearsal, which are my favorite kind of rehearsals. That was the time when random camera people came up to me and asked me about my double decker bed that i got from walmart. After camp we went to walmart to buy supplies and at the same time the bus was broken from hitting some kind of fluid thing. After that was resolved we went to the holiday inn for move ins. There started our rehearsals at Mission College... the worst thing ever... no meals provided, and the rehearsal field was like a 20 min walk. At the end of that week we had rehearsal till mid day and was let free, so we went to the movies and watch X3...waste of money... The next day we drove 3 hours to Angels Camp, CA. Angels camp is basicly 9 days of rehearsals from 8am to 10pm. Yeah it was good fun!!!! -_-" it was pretty tough. I was still pretty weak and my legs are starting to feel it with the shin splints. Finally the 9 days were done and we had a free day/laundry at some mall in santa clara which was fun...then it's off to the School for the Deaf... CSD or california school for the Deaf should be called school for the death. The field really sucked. Knee high grass...invisible pot holes... random mud. Terrible. Thats when we finished the show, and in the run through we are barely standing. Shortly after, our "payday" has arrived. It was Pacific Procession morning! SCV's home show and our first show! That day was just packed with enegry. Our visual rehearsal was very good and we had a surprise recording session so we didn't use up alot of enegry. Our ensemble rehearsal was on fire and so was our runthrough. Our show in the evening although dirty as heck had so much enegry that I didn't feel tired at the time till i got off the field. Then we had our encore, and we pulled out a performance that came out of nowhere...Thus Nick gave us the name the "Magnum Hornline" .
